Community Development
The Community Development
Committee has always strived to work toward the goal of providing
information and resources available to ambulance services on many, many
EMS projects, i.e. EMS week.
This is
however, not only a committee responsibility...each a every SEMSA member
, and even those not members, can contribute to community development.
It is everyone's interest to aid other services in ideas, and concepts
that could be implemented in other communities.
We are
always looking for input and ideas for community development. It
could be something your service is already doing in the community, or
something that you would like to do, but need help to make it happen.
Contact the
SEMSA office
or, Chair of the Community Development Committee,
Steven
Skoworodko, and we would be happy to help.
Better yet, would you like to be a part of the
Community Development Committee?
The SEMSA Community Development
Committee is always soliciting for members. Membership is open to
any EMS personnel or stakeholder. All members of the committee serve
in a volunteer capacity. Meetings are usually held by conference call,
with 1 or 2 in-person meetings per year.
The
Community Development Committee is responsible for the promotion
of public awareness and professionalism of EMS through
education, injury prevention, partnerships throughout
Saskatchewan and so much more, i.e. organizes and assists with
EMS promotional events, a means in which EMS workers can be
acknowledged, EMS Week and Community Awareness Projects.

EMS Dress Uniforms
The topic of
a standardized, professional dress uniform for SEMSA, and its members,
and all EMS practitioners has been discussed several times, and with
strong support from the membership, the committee has decided to go with
a company that MD Ambulance has tried, with good success,
Marlow White. The goal is that every EMS professional within
the province interested in the dress uniform, would follow a standard to
allow for all wearing them to be the same. This looks more
professional, united, and recognizable.
There is more
pictures, information and contacts to come.

EMS History Book
A major task that is in the conceptual stages is a history book for EMS
in Saskatchewan. There is an inarguable amount of diversity and
uniqueness in the province of Saskatchewan that needs to be documented
for the future.
This is
a major undertaking that will undoubtedly take some time, and
involvement by all service providers. The committee looks forward
to the task and looks to the future.
Watch for
more details.
